Etymology

From Arabic عقيلة (ʿaqīlah), meaning “noble woman” or “lady of high rank.”

  1. A title of respect for a woman of dignity, nobility, or honor in Arabic tradition.
  2. (Islamic history) An honorific title often associated with Zaynab bint ʿAlī (d. 682 CE), the granddaughter of the Prophet Muhammad, referred to as Aqeelah of Banu Hashim.

A woman who was “educated in the school of heaven, the school of the most admirable exemplar for human perfection, the clearest criterion for the believing woman” who inspires this initiative and the inspiration to teach little ones about the blessed Prophet (s) and his Ahl al-Bayt (a).
